Nite at the Races Recap

By Maryann Moynihan

From the Winter '96 issue of Hopes & Dreams, newsletter of the Illinois Chapter, Huntington's Disease Society of America.

As is our annual event, Saturday, November 2nd, found 88 HDSA Illinois Chapter Members and their families enjoying a wonderful evening of food, friends, laughter, and, if you were lucky, a little extra money in your pocket.

The Illinois Chapter Vice President did a wonderful job pulling this event together. We dined from a delicious buffet and many of us even tried our luck at picking a winnernot me of course!!! The 2nd race of the evening was named in our honor and many of our Members had their picture taken in the winners circle with the horse and rider who made it to the finish line!!

There were raffle tickets to be purchased for various prizes which included dinner packages at fine restaurants, passes to Chicagoland museums and theater events (I won tickets for two to the Candlelight Dinner Playhouse to see 'Its a Wonderful Life!!'), state-of-the-art telephones, huge stuffed animals, and the largest prize of the evening, a 4 foot tall painting of Dennis Rodman!!

Our chapter raised $1,757 during this fund raising event. Thanks to all who came and gave generously.

Plan to join us next year for this wonderful event!!
